THIS SEASON: Gary Sacks enters his thirdseason at USC.
2007-08: Went 8-3 in singles and 1-3 in doubles during the fall... Went 2-1 at the Napa Valey Classic and held a four-match win streak to reach the ITA West Regional quarterfinals... Ranked No. 43 in the ITA preseason rankings... More info to come...
2007: Sacks went 23-8 in singles action in his first season, going 16-3 in dual match play... Played mostly at the No. 5 (6-1) and No. 6 (8-1) singles slots... Played at the No. 1 and 2 doubles positions with Dejan Cvetkovic, going 12-3 overall... Also played at No. 3 doubles with Garrett Snyder (1-1)... Had the match-clinching win in USC[apos]s NCAA Round of 16 win over Notre Dame...Reached the Pac-10 Tournament Round of 16 in singles... Went 5-3 in singles during the fall, falling in the ITA West Regional Consolation final to teammate Jarryd Cooper... Went 1-2 in doubles with Kaes Van[apos]t Hof.
HIGH SCHOOL: Sacks is a 2005 graduate of Calabasas High... Competed for Calabasas as a freshman and sophomore... Won the CIF singles title in 2003... Went undefeated as a sophomore... A semifinalist at the 2003 Eddie Herr International... Competed at the junior level at the 2003 U.S. Open... Won the Hard Court Nationals Championship at the boys 16-under level in 2001 and 2003... Was the Boys 16 Kalamazoo Champion.
PERSONAL: Gary Mark Sacks was born on Nov. 12, 1986 in Johannesburg, South Africa... The son of Carol and David Sacks... Has one brother, Greg... His father was a professional soccer player in South Africa... Lists Andre Agassi[apos]s comeback two sets to win the French Open and the Lakers[apos] three-peat with Kobe and Shaq as the most thrilling sports moments... Enjoys vacations with his family and friends at beach resorts... Lists Tiger Woods as his biggest sports hero... Would like to travel the world to play tennis after graduation... Has not decided on a major.
