• Compiled an 18-5 overall singles record and went 4-4 in doubles action before his rookie season at Duke was shortened by COVID-19

• Named an ITA Scholar-Athlete and was on the ACC Academic Honor Roll
HIGH SCHOOL: A 2019 graduate of Laurel Springs School, Rubell was a five-star recruit ranked inside the top 40 in TennisRecruiting.net’s Class of 2019... Reached the main draw of the Panama F4 Futures event... In juniors, advanced to the finals of the USTA National L2 Tournament in July of 2018... Reached the fourth round of the USTA Boys’ 18 & 16 National Clay Court Championships in 2018 and the Round of 16 in singles in 2019... At Ransom Everglades High School, recorded a perfect 15-0 record as a sophomore, winning the 2017 Florida state title... A two-time all-county honoree... Earned a spot in the state quarterfinals as a freshman... Member of the Mu Alpha Theta math society and Spanish Honor Society.Â

Father Jason played tennis at Duke from 1988-91, earning All-America honors... Grandfather, Don Rubell, was an All-American tennis player at Cornell (Class of 1961)... His uncle, Ronald Simkins, is 1985 USC alum... Enjoys hanging out with friends and family in his free time... Lists Roger Federer as his biggest sports hero... Has always wanted to attend the Monte Carlo F1... Would like to travel to Japan, Greece and China... After graduation, hopes to play tennis professionally and then pursue a career in real estate...
