Played briefly in three matches at California as a 2009 freshman outside hitter.
HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB
Buckingham was a four-year letterwinner at Newport Harbor HS in Newport Beach (Calif.)... as a senior captain in 2008, she made the Orange County All-Star Team, Newport Mesa Dream Team, and All-Sunset-League first team... as a 2007 junior, she made the Daily Pilot Dream Team, and All-Sunset-League second team... also lettered in track and field at Newport Harbor... played for the Orange County Volleyball Club and helped her team to the 2006 Volleyball Festival Championship title... current Trojans Kirby Burnham and Alexa Strange also prepped at Newport Harbor.

Mary Katherine Buckingham was born on July 21, 1990, in Newport Beach, Calif.... parents are Jim and Mary Buckingham... father Jim was a four-year varsity sailor at California... has three siblings, brother Charlie, and sisters Sarah and Biz... brother Charlie was on the varsity sailing team at Georgetown... uncle Michael O[apos]Brien played on the club men[apos]s volleyball team at California (1984-87) and won the club national championship in 1985... in the Annenberg master[apos]s program for communication management.
