Megan Ward, a two-time NCAA champion goaltender, is USC’s director of operations. She was hired in July 2016 and is in her third season (2019) with the Women of Troy.
Ward won NCAA titles with North Carolina in 2013 and 2016. She was the starting goalie in each of the Tar Heels’ championship-winning games and played in 68 career contests with 26 starts; and logged over 2,300 minutes in the cage. Ward produced 321 saves and allowed just 338 goals in her award-winning career.
As a senior, Ward was named the co-National Goalie of the Year with teammate Caylee Waters by ILWomen and was a member of the Inside Lacrosse All-ILWomen Team. She was chosen to the 2016 All-NCAA Tournament Team following a career-high performance with 14 saves in the title game against Maryland. Ward was a second-team IWLCA All-South selection and won six straight games entering the NCAA tournament including victories over No. 5 Louisville, twice over No. 4 Syracuse, No. 13 Duke, and at Virginia Tech. She was an All-ACC Tournament Team selection and was named to the All-ACC Academic Team.
Ward led the ACC in goals-against average as a junior (7.77 gaa) and was third in save percentage (.477). She was a second-team All-ACC selection as a sophomore after leading the conference with a .480 save percentage, which ranked ninth in the nation. She earned ACC Defensive Player of the Week twice in 2014 (Feb. 11, April 7) and was already a known quantity as a freshman (2013) with All-NCAA Tournament Team honors and a spot on the All-ACC Academic Team.
In high school, Ward was named a 2012 Under Armour All-American and appeared in the Under Armour Elite Tournament. She was a two-time first-team all-county selection, a team captain, and also lettered in soccer, basketball, and ran indoor track.
Ward is a native of Annapolis, Maryland, where she attended St. Mary’s High School. She graduated from North Carolina with a degree in economics in 2016 and currently resides in Long Beach.
