Paul Perrier returned to USC Athletics in September of 2019 after spending four years at Rutgers University. As a member of the executive team, Paul oversees the Sport Administration function for the department by leading a group of administrators in managing the internal and external areas supporting our sport programs and partnering with head coaches to live the vision and mission of USC Athletics. Perrier also provides leadership to areas including sport science, sports performance, athletic medicine, and nutrition.
Prior to Perrier’s return to USC, he joined the Rutgers Athletics staff as senior associate athletic director and chief compliance officer in October of 2015. He was a member of the department’s executive staff and served as the sport administrator for the baseball, field hockey, and men’s lacrosse programs. While at Rutgers, Perrier was an integral part in the athletic department’s creation of the “Relentless Pursuit of Excellence” strategic vision that provided goals and guiding principles for a five-year period. He also was a member of Rutgers’ Big Ten Build Campaign, which led to new and upgraded athletic facilities to support student-athletes. Perrier navigated the institution through a major violation and probation period within the football program while overseeing the risk management and compliance functions for all of Rutgers’ 24 varsity sports. He spearheaded multiple initiatives to foster collaboration amongst regional and national peers by creating the National Football Compliance Group, Garden State Compliance Summit and Men’s Basketball FBI Summit, and hosting Big Ten Conference meetings.
Perrier first joined USC in 2009 and spent six years with the Office of Athletic Compliance, most recently as the associate vice president. In this role, he managed the day-to-day functions of the compliance office and supported many sport programs, including football and men’s basketball, to provide administrative oversight and guidance on compliance matters.
In 2008, Perrier was selected to the NCAA’s Postgraduate Internship Program, where he served a year at the national headquarters in Indianapolis. During that time, he supported the Eligibility Center staff, chaired the NCAA’s Emerging Leaders Seminar and assisted with the organization and execution of a NCAA Regional Leadership Academy, the NCAA/NACWAA Women’s Leadership Symposium and the National Student-Athlete Development Conference.
Perrier was a member of the NCAA Division I Amateurism Fact-Finding Committee (2014-2019), for which he served as the chair for his final two years. He was a board member of the National Association for Athletics Compliance and served as the chair for the Professional Development Committee. In that time, he created new national initiatives, including the Next Up Mentoring Program and the New Member Ambassador Program. He also had oversight of the NAAC Elite Mentoring Program.
Perrier earned his Juris Doctor from the University at Buffalo Law School and a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Oswego State University, where he was a Presidential Scholar and recipient of the Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence. He competed in the Frozen Four NCAA Championship game as a member of the men’s ice hockey team and was a four-year conference all-academic team and Commissioner’s List honoree. During his time as a student-athlete, he attended the NCAA National Leadership Conference and served as SAAC President.
Perrier and his wife, Lindsey, reside in the South Bay with their two sons, Cole and Henry.
