October 23, 2025 | Women's Rowing
The 2025-26 team will race 18 boats in their first regatta of the season
GOLD RIVER, Calif. – After months of preparation, the USC rowing team will return to the water this Saturday at the Head of the American Regatta, hosted by Sacramento State.
The Women of Troy will appear in the Women's Collegiate 8+, Women's Collegiate 4+ and Women's Collegiate Pairs. Almost every Trojan will have the opportunity to race twice on Saturday with USC competing four boats in the Collegiate 8+ at 2:24 p.m. and four boats in the Collegiate 4+ set for 3:13 p.m. Additionally, 10 USC pairs will kick off the day at 11:23 a.m.
The Trojans last competed at the Head of the American in 2024 where four USC pairs came away with top-10 finishes in a race of 44 boats. They were up against boats from Oregon State, UCLA, UC Irvine, UC Santa Barbara, Portland, San Diego and Washington State in the pairs race. USC's First Varsity Eight finished with a fifth-place finish, and the Second Varsity Eight earned eighth place. In the Collegiate 4+, USC's First Varsity Four and Third Varsity Four came in seventh and eighth, respectively.
Throughout the 2024-25 season, the team delivered a strong performance at their first Big Ten Championships, placing sixth overall and taking victories in the 1V4+ petite final and 1V8+ petite final. The Trojans recorded wins over UCLA and at the San Diego Crew Classic. They also earned four first-place finishes at the Oregon State Invite and a win by the 3V8+ boat at the Big Ten Invite.
Building on their performances from last season, the Trojans are eager to carry their momentum into the new season, with head coach Kelsie Chaudoin entering her second year at the helm of the program. Following this weekend's competition, USC will host a scrimmage against UC San Diego in February before their official spring debut against UCLA in March.
