THIS SEASON: Bennett Winther enters his third season of competition at USC.
2020: In a season shortened and delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, Winther scored one goal as a redshirt sophomore... That goal came in the MPSF Quarterfinal... A member of the NCAA Tournament roster... Earned ACWPC All-Academic honors and named to Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll... Also picked up MPSF All-Academic honors.
2019: Winther scored two goals as a redshirt freshman... First career goal came vs. Concordia on Sept. 15.
2018: Winther redshirted his first season at USC.
HIGH SCHOOL: Winther played four years of water polo and also swam four years at Acalanes High School in Lafayette, Calif.… As a senior, had 81 goals and 34 assists in 21 games and was named captain of the team… A two-time All-Conference Team selection… Played club for Lamorinda Water Polo.
PERSONAL: Winther is double majoring in business administration and economics… Parents are Heather and Doug Norton and John Winther... Father, John, played club rugby at Brown University… Has two brothers, Jack, who played water polo at UC Santa Barbara, and younger brother Mike... Three older stepbrothers also played collegiate water polo — Jake (UC Davis), Michael (UCLA) and Buddy Norton (Cal)… Enjoys snow skiing, fishing and hunting with his family and playing soccer with friends… Names Cristiano Ronaldo as his biggest sports hero… Has always wanted to travel to Japan, the Bahamas and Portugal… Born December 23, 1999.
