LOS ANGELES -- Led by junior forward Tashara Carter's 13 points, five Trojans scored in double-figures to guide the USC women?s basketball team to a 84-59 victory over the national team of New Zealand on Wednesday (Nov. 17). This was the Trojans' second exhibition victory in front of 332 at the USC Lyon Center, before opening the regular season.
The Women of Troy also got four steals, one block and one assist from Carter. Senior guard Erica Mashia, freshman guard Lauren Smith-Hams and senior forward Tiffany Washington each posted 11 points in the game. Washington led the team with eight rebounds on the night as USC out-rebounded its opponent, 26 to 21.
New Zealand was led by center Gina Farmer's 19 points.
USC plays its first game of the regular season on Tuesday, Nov. 23, on the road against the University of Portland. The home opener will be Friday, Nov. 26, against Creighton at 12:30 p.m. at the LA Sports Arena.
