Men's Volleyball Swept by No. 2 Pepperdine

LOS ANGELES - George Roumain had a match-high 22 kills to lead the No. 2-ranked Pepperdine men's volleyball team to a 15-4, 16-14, 15-6 victory over No. 11 USC in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match on Tues
day (March 2) in USC's North Gym. USC fell to 7-6 overall and 6-5 in the MPSF, while Pepperdine improved to 13-1 and 10-1. It was the Waves' 11thconsecutive win over the Trojans. For USC, Brook Billings had a team-high 20 kills and Omar Rauwi added 13 kills while hitting .545.
For Pepperdine, Scott Wong had 15 kills and 4 aces while Chris Van Reusen notched 13 kills. Roumain, who is a candidate for Player of the Year honors, also added 4 aces to go along with a match-best 6 digs. The Waves outhit the Trojans .505 to .342 and committed only 17 errors to Troy's 24. Pepperdine gave USC fits with a 12 to 4 ace advantage. Things don't get any easier for the Trojans, who have lost 5 of their last 6 matches after opening the 1999 season with a 6-1 record. On Saturday, USC hosts top-ranked and undefeated BYU at 5 p.m. in the North Gym.
