Ryan Sprague Earns Academic All-District Laurels

USC senior setter Ryan Sprague adds another academic distinction to his collegiate career achievements
LOS ANGELES – USC men's volleyball senior setter Ryan Sprague (Manhattan Beach, Calif./Loyola HS) was named to the College Sports Communicators' Academic All-District Men's At-Large Team on Tuesday, June 16.
Sprague—who graduated this spring with a degree in finance from the USC Marshall School of Business—earned his third-career placement on the MPSF's All-Academic Team and repeated for Big Ten Spring All-Academic Team honors this season. He was also chosen to the Pac-12's spring academic honor roll in 2024.
Sprague played in 27 of 28 matches in 2026 and saw action in 60 sets. He totaled 55 assists, 22 digs, three service aces, and three blocks as a service specialist. In his four-year career, Sprague played in 86 matches and finished with 430 assists, 92 digs, 11 blocks, and seven service aces in 177 sets.
The Trojans made their 16th appearance in the NCAA tournament and advanced to the regional final where they fell to site-host and No. 2-seeded Hawai'i in four sets. USC (20-8) finished as the runner-up for the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation's championship and was third in the final conference regular-season standings with a 9-5 record. 11th-year head coach Jeff Nygaard reached 20 wins in a season for the third time and collected his 143rd-career victory making him the third-winningest coach in program history behind only Bob Yoder (211 wins, 1982-89) and Bill Ferguson (150 wins, 2007-15).
