Volleyball Upsets Long Beach State in MPSF Semis

PROVO, Utah - Behind a career-high 39 kills from freshman Brook Billings, the USC men's volleyball team earned another big upset in the MPSF Tournament, stunning No. 2 Long Beach State, 3-1, in the semifinals at BYU on Thursday night.
USC (17-10 overall) defeated Long Beach State (21-3) by the score of 10-15, 16-14, 15-7, 15-9. The Trojans will meet either host BYU or Hawaii in Saturday's tournament final. Another upset would give USC an automatic berth into the NCAA Championships.
The stats came out nearly even: USC hit .325 to Long Beach State's .324, both teams had 18 blocks and the Trojans had a 45-44 advantage in digs.
Junior setter Donald Suxho had 82 assists, 10 digs and seven blocks, sophomore Eli Fairfield had 25 kills and junior Omar Rawi had 11 kills and seven blocks.
