LOS ANGELES -- USC junior setter Donald Suxho was named to the American Volleyball Coaches All-American first team.
Suxho is the 18th Trojan to win first team honors, but the first since Jason Mulholland and Chris Underwood in 1994.
Suxho, a 3-year starter, set a USC season record with 63 aces in 1999 and also led the team in digs (199) and assists (1871). He was second nationally in ace average (.594, tops in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) and seventh in assists average (17.60).
He helped USC to a 17-11 record overall (11-8 in the MPSF) and a runnerup finish in the MPSF tourney. The Trojans were one win away from advancing to the NCAA Final Four.
Joining Suxho on the AVCA All-American first team were Player of the Year George Roumain and Scott Wong of Pepperdine, Ossie Antonetti and Ryan Millar of BYU, Adam Naeve and Brandon Taliaferro of UCLA, Victor Rivera of Lewis and Hector Soto of Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne.
