Women's Rowing Welcomes Assistant Coach

Los Angeles, CA -- Andrew Carter, the former head rowing coach at Vassar College, was named USC's assistant women's rowing coach, head coach George Jenkins announced today.
Carter joins the Women of Troy with over ten years of coaching experience. Prior to spending four years at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York, Carter spent 18 months (1995-96) as the Head Coach of the Western Rowing Club in London, Ontario, and five months (1996) as the Interim Director of the National High Performance Rowing Center, also in London. Prior to that, Carter served as the Varsity Coach at the University of Western Ontario (1994-96), while leading several club teams, including, Nova Scotia Provincial Rowing Team (1991-94), Halifax Rowing Club (1993-94), Dalhousie University Rowing Club (1991-94) and the Mic Mac Amateur Aquatic Club (1989-92).
Carter is a certified Level III Coach according to the Coaching Association of Canada, and has also completed the National Coaching Certification program (NCCP) for Levels I-III as a technical instructor and practical evaluator. He is a certified member of the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association and the New York State Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association.
A 1994 graduate of Dalhousie University in Hailfax, Nova Scotia, Carter earned a bachelor of science degree in Kinesiology. He later earned his master's in Kinesiology-Biomechanics/Coaching from the University of Western Ontario in 1998. As an undergraduate, Carter rowed at Trent University in Peterborough, Ontario, and Dalhousie, on the lightweight men's team from 1989-92.
Carter currently resides in Costa Mesa, Calif. with his wife, Kimberely.
