Women's Tennis Falls to No. 12 ASU

Tempe, Ariz. -- No. 10 USC (2-1, 1-0 Pac-10) women's tennis fell to No. 12 Arizona State, 6-3, in a four hour tennis match, today (Jan. 28), at the ASU Robson Player Facility in Tempe, Ariz.
In singles competition, each team won three matches, while four of the matches extended into the third set. Heading into doubles with the dual tied at three apiece, the Women of Troy surrendered all three doubles matches to the Sun Devils.
At No. 1 singles, fourth-ranked Jewel Peterson dropped her second match this season to Arizona State's Allison Bradshaw, 6-2, 6-4. Anita Loyola then tied the dual at one by defeating Celena McCoury, 6-2, 6-2, in the No. 5 spot. The remaining four singles matches all went to three sets, as the Trojans and Sun Devils each earned two wins.
The score was left to be decided in doubles play as Arizona State went on to win all three matches for a final 6-3 victory.
USC will prepare to face Arizona tomorrow, Jan. 29, in Tucson. The contest will begin at 1:30 p.m. (MT).
