
Men's Water Polo Thinks Defense In Win At Pepperdine

MALIBU - Freshman Tim Wollthan recorded two goals and the No. 2 USC Trojans registered a 7-3 win Saturday over the No. 7 Pepperdine Waves in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match. With the win, the Trojans improve to 16-4 overall (5-2 in MPSF play) while the Waves fall to 10-8 overall (2-4 in MPSF).
The Trojans put in a strong defensive effort, not allowing a goal by Pepperdine until the fourth quarter. USC had a 6-0 lead after three periods. Senior goalie Darin Smith needed only four saves in the win for the Trojans.
USC will host No. 5 Stanford on Sunday at noon in a non-conference match at McDonald's Swim Stadium.
