
USC Women Fall To Oregon State, 73-66

CORVALLIS -- Despite a double-double performance from forward Tiffany Washington, USC dropped a 73-66 loss to Oregon State, breaking the Trojans three-game winning streak in front of 1,326 at Gill Coliseum Thursday night.
USC, who had just reached the .500 mark, falls to 11-12 overall and 6-7 in Pac-10 play. The Beavers improve to 13-13 overall and 9-5 in the conference.
The Beavers used strong offense to down the Trojans, shooting .600 (12-20) in the first half while building a 33-24 lead, and improved to .813 (13-16) in the second half for a near school record .694 (25-36) for the game
Washington posted a career-high 18 points, in addition to 11 rebounds, for her second double-double of the season, the team's second. Forward Danielle Golay added 14 points and guard Tiffany Elmore accounted for 12.
Oregon State got a career high 14 points from Funn as she connected on 6 of 7 shots from the field. The Beavers got 18 points and 3 blocked shots from Sissel Pierce and Felicia Ragland added 11 points and a career high 7 assists.
OSU led by as many as 15 points with 12:28 to play, but had to hang on at the end. USC cut the margin to 3 points at 69-66 with 1:18 to play following a jumper by Washington. In response, Pierce hit a layup on a pass from Ragland to give the Beavers a 71-66 lead with :55 seconds left and the Trojans got no closer.
The Trojans had a 34-25 advantage on the boards, including a huge 22-4 edge on the offensive glass. It was only the ninth time this season at Oregon State, which leads the Pac-10 in rebounding, has lost the battle of the boards.
USC will travel to Eugene, Ore. to face the conference-leading Ducks on Saturday (Feb. 26) at 7:05 p.m.
