
USC Downs Washington In Overtime, 88-76

SEATTLE, Wash. - USC rallied from a 14-point halftime deficit and scored 22 points in overtime to down Washington, 88-76, in Pac-10 women's action in front of 1,910 fans at KeyArena Thursday night.
USC, which has won six of its last eight games, improves to 14-13 overall and 9-8 in the Pac-10. Washington, which will go the season without winning back-to-back games, drops to 8-21, 4-13.
All five Trojan starters scored in double figures asTiffany Elmore lead the way with a season-high 21 points. Danielle Golay added 13 of her 15 points after halftime. Forward Tiffany Washington recorded her third double-double of the season with 13 points and a season-best 14 boards.
The Huskies were led by freshman Loree Payne, who equalled her career-high with 28 points. Megan Franza finished the night with 15 points, including a clutch three pointer that sent the game into Washington's first overtime contest of the year.
Washington shot 50 percent from the field and led by as many as 17 in the first half, holding a 31-14 advantage with just over six minutes to play before the break. The Trojans first lead of the game did not come until the second half at 12:09, 45-44, on the strength of a 19-4 run. Both teams alternated with the lead as Golay evened the score at 55-55 with 6:52 to go. The Huskies went up by four points two more times before she hit a free throw and two field goals to give the Trojans a one point advantage, 62-61, with 1:33 remaining. Franza hit her only three pointer of the game with 0.5 on the clock to send it to overtime.
Franza carried the momentum into the extra period, scoring the first bucket on a driving layin, but the game belonged to the Women of Troy as USC scored the next 11 points to put the game away.
The Women of Troy travel to Pullman, Wash. for a 3 p.m. game at Washington State on Saturday.
