
Women's Tennis Defeats Fresno State, 7-2

Los Angeles, Calif. -- 8th-ranked USC women's tennis (12-3, 2-2 Pac-10) tallied a 7-2 victory over No. 27 Fresno State (9-6) today at Marks Tennis Stadium. The Women of Troy put an end to the Bulldogs' seven-match win streak, while posting their own fourth-straight victory.
With a 4-2 lead after the singles matches, USC's Tiffany Brymer and Kara Warkentin clinched the Trojans victory with a 8-4 win over Kim Niggemeyer and Renee Kops-Jones at the No.1 doubles position. The No. 2 and 3 doubles matches followed in their footsteps as USC swept all three with identical scores, 8-4.
Fresno State earned its only two points at No. 4 and 6 singles, as Chantel Wiggins posted a 7-6, 7-5 win over Anita Loyola and Ewa Grusiecka defeated Krissy Hamilton-Heinberg, 7-5, 6-2. USC earned three points in straight sets, and the fourth in a third set tie-breaker when freshman Tiffany Brymer came from behind to defeat Fresno State's Anke Beier, 3-6, 7-6, 6-2, at No. 5.
The Women of Troy will host San Diego on Saturday, March 25, at 1:30 p.m. The match will be played at Marks Tennis Stadium.
