Women's Tennis Falls To No. 1 Stanford

Los Angeles, Calif. -- No. 10 USC women's tennis (13-6, 2-2 Pac-10) suffered a 6-1 loss to No.1-ranked Stanford today at Marks Tennis Stadium. The loss is the Women of Troy's third-straight after facing three consecutive top-10 opponents in the last week.
USC's lone victory in the match was a 6-3, 6-3 upset at the No. 3 singles position. Unranked Veronika Safarova defeated Stanford's sixth-ranked Lauren Kalvaria. The Cardinal claimed the No. 1, 2, 4 and 5 singles matches in straight sets, while Tiffany Brymer challenged Keiko Tokuda to a third set tiebreaker for a 3-6, 6-4, 6-0 loss.
At No. 2, the Cardinal duo of Kalvaria and Gabriela Lastra posted a 8-4 win over Safarova and Caroline Christian. The No. 1 and 3 doubles matches were never played.
The Women of Troy return to action on Friday, April 14, against Washington State. The Pac-10 match will begin at 1:30 p.m. at Marks Tennis Stadium.
