LOS ANGELES - Jim Waller had 26 kills to help the UC San Diego men's volleyball team rally from a 2-game deficit to record its first Mountain Pacific Sports Federation win of the season by beating USC, 28-30, 28-30, 31-29, 30-26, 15-12, in a MPSF match on Wednesday (March 12) in USC's South Gym.
The Tritons improved to 5-15 overall and 1-14 in the MPSF, while Troy dropped to 5-16 and 2-13.
It was only UCSD's second-ever win over the Trojans in 26 matches.
USC held a 29-27 lead in the third game, but the Tritons reeled off the next 4 points to win the game and swing the match's momentum.
Mark Dusharme led USC with 26 kills, while Ian Gallagher added 16.
The match was played in the South Gym because of a lighting failure in the North Gym, the match's original site. The move delayed the start of the match by 30 minutes.
USC next plays in the Active Ankle Tournament at Long Beach State, facing No. 9 Penn State on Friday (March 14) and then No. 13 Ball State on Saturday (March 15). Both matches start at 5 p.m.
