
Men's Golf Heads To NCAA Championships

THE TOURNEY--The No. 19 USC men's golf team travels to Stillwater, Okla., this week to compete with 29 other teams in the 2003 NCAA Men's Golf Championships hosted by Oklahoma State University, May 27-30 (Tues.-Fri.) at Karsten Creek Golf Club. The Trojans are making their first NCAA Championship appearance since 2000 and are seeking their first-ever NCAA team title.
FORMAT--The teams will play 18 holes each day, 72 total. Play on Tuesday thru Thursday starts at 7 a.m., while Friday's round starts at 8 a.m.
NCAA WEST REGIONALS--USC secured its first NCAA Championship bid since 2000 by tying for seventh at the NCAA West Regionals at Auburn, Wash., on May 17. Freshman Taylor Wood was USC's top individual, as he shot an even-par 216 to tie for 12th.
SO FAR THIS YEAR--USC has seven top 10 finishes so far this season. The Trojans' best finish was at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational, where they shot a school-record 832 over 54 holes to finish second. USC's schedule is ranked the second toughest in the nation by Golfstat. The Trojans have beaten No. 3 Texas head-to-head three times and No. 5 Arizona twice.
USC AT THE NCAAs--This will be USC's 44th NCAA tournament appearance. The Trojans have placed in the top 10 26 times, including six third-place finishes.
