LOS ANGELES -- Redshirt freshman Veronica Simonton (Chino Hills/Ayala HS) registered her first collegiate shutout Sunday as the USC Trojans defeated the San Diego Toreros, 2-0, in nonconference action in San Diego. USC (4-3-1) earned its first shutout of the season, getting second-half goals from senior Shannon Cross and sophomore Tracy Lansing.
USC out shot San Diego (4-4) by a 17-5 margin as the Women of Troy now possess a three-game unbeaten streak against the Toreros (two wins and a tie).
The Women of Troy will close out the 2004 nonconference schedule with two road games next weekend at St. Mary's on Friday (Sept. 24) at 3 p.m. and UC Irvine on Sunday (Sept. 26) at 1 p.m.
