Sophomore goalie Adam Shilling manned the cage for two important home wins for the USC men's water polo over the weekend, earning himself honors as Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Mikasa Co-Player of the Week. It is Shilling's first MPSF award, and makes him the third Trojan this season to earn the conference's weekly honor.
In a crucial win over Stanford on Nov. 5, Shilling notched 10 saves, including one in overtime, to help anchor USC to an 8-7 overtime win over the Cardinal and keep USC as the only undefeated team in MSPF play. The following day, Shilling manned the cage once more and turned away six shots while allowing only three Pepperdine goals through just over three quarters in goal. USC came away with a dominant 10-4 win over the Waves, avenging the Trojans' only loss of the season. Shilling currently has posted 79 saves for the top-ranked Trojans.
Shilling shares this week's MPSF Co-Player of the Week award with UC Irvine's Tim Hutten.
