To go along with the regional honors already bestowed upon them, USC freshmen Amy Rodriguez, Meagan Holmes and Stacey Strong have also received national nods as SoccerBuzz All-Americans. Rodriguez was recently awarded honorable mention as an All-American as well as a place on the Freshman All-America First Team. Defender Meagan Holmes joins Rodriguez on that freshman first team, and midfielder Stacey Strong was awarded honorable mention as a Freshman All-American.
This is the first national honor for Holmes and Strong, while Rodriguez also was named a 2005 NSCAA/adidas All-American. The trio were a driving force for USC as members of the Trojans' 11-player freshman class. Rodriguez led the Women of Troy with nine goals and 25 points on the year, and Strong added four goals and three assists as a wiley midfielder. Holmes helped anchor USC's tough defensive back line, which powered the Trojans to 12 shutouts in 2005. USC reached the NCAA Second Round and finished 13-6-2 overall.
