Jake Wiens had a match-best 14 kills and Evan Patak added 13 kills to lead the No. 6-ranked UC Santa Barbara men's volleyball team to a 30-25, 30-26, 30-28 win over USC in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match on Wednesday (Feb. 23) in the North Gym.
The Gauchos improved to 9-7 overall and 9-4 in the MPSF, while USC fell to 4-13 and 1-9.
Patak added 3 aces for UCSB, which served 6 aces to the Trojans' 1. Theo Brunner had 5 blocks for the Gauchos.
For USC, Juan Figueroa had 13 kills and Danny Newman had 5 blocks.
USC next hosts No. 8 Cal State Northridge on Friday (Feb. 25) at 7 p.m. in the North Gym.
