Freshman middle blocker Andrew Vernon was named the Molten Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Player of the Week in men's volleyball, based on his performances in USC's upset over No. 12 UC Irvine and in the Trojans' close loss to then-No. 1 UCLA last week.
He had 21 kills and hit .531 in the two matches. He also had 9 blocks.
In the four-game loss to the Bruins, Vernon had 6 kills (hitting .333) and 4 blocks. Then, he had a match-high 15 kills (hitting .700) and 5 blocks versus the Anteaters.
He currently leads USC in blocks (71).
