Wood At Even After NCAA Championships 3rd Round

USC senior Taylor Wood carded a 1-over 73 and was tied for 21st after the third round of the 2006 NCAA Men's Golf Championships at Crosswater G.C. in Sunriver, Ore., on Friday (June 2).
Wood, who fired a 6-under 66 on Wednesday and a 5-over 77 on Thursday, again teed off on the 10th hole to start his round. During his consistent outing, Wood was 2-over on the front 9 and 1-under on the back 9 with birdies on the 3rd and 6th holes.
Wood has a 54-hole 216 (E) and is nine shots back of new leader Jonathan Moore of Oklahoma State (207). First and second-round leader Kyle Reifers of Wake Forest is in second at 208. Washington leads the team competition at 7-under, while Oklahoma State, Wake Forest and Arizona State are tied at 4-under.
For the tournament, Wood has played the 1st through 9th holes at 5-under and the 10th through 18th holes at 5-over.
Wood was USC's highest finisher four times in 12 tournaments in 2005-2006, including a season-best tying tie for second at the NCAA East Regional that garnered him his individual NCAA Championships berth.
Ranked No. 34 in the nation by Golfweek.com, Wood finished seventh at the 2005 NCAA Championships, helping USC to a sixth-place finish.
Wood is trying to join Scott Simpson (1976, 1977) and Ron Commans (1981) as USC's NCAA individual title winners.
