USC freshman Jamie Lovemark and sophomore Tom Glissmeyer finished second and tied for third, respectively, individually, to lead the Trojans to second-place after two rounds of the Inverness Intercollegiate Invitational on Monday (Sept. 11) at the Inverness C.C. in Toledo, Ohio.
The Trojans finished with a combined 602 (+34), tied for second in the 15-team field with Coastal Carolina, eight shots back of leader TCU (594).
Lovemark, making his Trojan debut, fired off rounds of 72 (+1) and 75 (+4) to finish second with a 147 (+5), six shots back of leader Jon McLean of TCU. A stroke back is Glissmeyer, who was a Pac-10 Championships competitor for USC last season. He is tied with UNLV's Ryan Keeney at 148 (+6). Glissmeyer opened the 2006-2007 season with two rounds of 74.
Lovemark's freshman colleague Rory Hie was USC's next best finisher on the first day of competition. Hie is tied for 20th with a 152 (+10) after a pair of 76s.
USC seniors Joshua Wooding and Jordan Nasser both struggled in the first round but rallied for solid second-round results. Wooding finished tied for 45th with a 157 (81-76, +15) while Nasser is tied for 58th with a 159 (85-74, +17).
Lovemark sank eight birdies, including the 8th hole twice, during the 36-hole first day while Glissmeyer had six, including the 14th twice.
The tournament concludes Tuesday (Sept. 12) with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. (CST).
