SEATTLE -- Christal Morrison had 17 kills, 10 digs and five blocks Friday as the No. 5 Washington Huskies swept the No. 4 USC Trojans, 3-0 (30-26, 30-28, 30-19), in a Pac-10 Conference match. The Huskies were able to put pressure on USC's outside hitting trio of Asia Kaczor, Jessica Gysin and Geena Urango, who had a combined 21 hitting errors in the match.
Washington is now 19-1 on the season and remains tied for first in the Pac-10 with Stanford at 8-1 while USC is 17-3 overall and two games back at 6-3.
Stevie Mussie aided the Huskies with 13 kills and 13 digs for the match.
Kaczor led USC with 14 kills while Gysin recorded another double-double with 10 kills and 16 digs.
Down 29-21 in game one, the Trojans tried to rally with five straight points before the host Huskies used a Jenna Hagglund solo block for the game clincher.
The Trojans were down 28-25 in game two before two Urango kills tied it at 28-28, but a key USC serving error was followed by a Morrison kill for the 2-0 Washington lead. Washington jumped out to an early lead in game three and put USC away with the sweep.
USC returns home for two Pac-10 matches at the Galen Center next week, hosting Cal on Thursday (Oct. 26) and Stanford on Friday (Oct. 27) with both matches starting at 7 p.m.
