
Stanford Men's Volleyball Beats USC

The No. 6-ranked Stanford men's volleyball team, behind Evan Romero's 19 kills and Matt Ceran's 18 kills, beat No. 11 USC, 30-28, 20-26, 26-30, 30-17, in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match in Palo Alto on Friday (Jan. 18).
The Trojans fell to 3-4 overall and 2-2 in the MPSF, while Stanford upped its marks to 5-1 and 2-1.
Murphy Troy led USC with 17 kills and 6 digs, while C.J. Schellenberg added 13 kills, 7 digs and 5 blocks, Andrew Vernon had 13 kills while hitting .391 and had 6 blocks, Luke Morris had 11 digs and Tri Bourne had 9 digs and 4 blocks.
Neither team hit well, as Stanford hit just .213 and USC was at .147. The Trojans outblocked the Cardinal, 12.5 to 7.0, but Stanford served 7 aces.
USC next returns home to host crosstown foe UCLA on Wednesday (Jan. 23) at 7 p.m. in the Galen Center.
