
Men's Volleyball Hosts USC Fall Tourney Nov. 6-7

The USC men's volleyball squad will host the 5-team pre-season USC Fall Tournament this Friday and Saturday (Nov. 6 and 7) in the Galen Center and adjacent Galen Center Pavilion.
The Trojans, who were the runners-up at the 2009 NCAA Championships, will be joined by Mountain Pacific Sports Federation opponents Stanford, Cal State Northridge, Long Beach State and Pacific.
On Friday at 2:30 p.m. on the volleyball practice courts of the Galen Center Pavilion, USC faces Pacific while Stanford and Cal State Northridge play. Then at 4:15 p.m., the Trojans face CSUN while Stanford and Pacific meet. CSUN and Pacific will battle at 6 p.m.
At approximately 9 p.m. on Friday in the Galen Center Arena, the Trojan men will face Stanford immediately following the 7 p.m. USC-UCLA women's volleyball Pac-10 match.
On Saturday, all the matches will be held on the men's and women's basketball practice courts of the Galen Center Pavilion as Long Beach State joins the action with split squads. At 9 a.m., Long Beach State 1 meets Pacific and Long Beach State 2 faces CSUN in quarterfinal play. At 11 a.m., the Long Beach State 1/Pacific winner meets USC at 11 a.m. in a tourney semifinal match, while the Long Beach State 2/CSUN winner plays Stanford. The losers of the quarterfinal matches also play at 11 a.m. for fifth place.
At 1:30 p.m., the semifinal winners will compete for the USC Fall Tournament championship, while the semifinal losers will battle for third place.
All tournament matches will be the best of 3 sets.
This is the final pre-season tourney for USC, which last month competed in the Can-Am Challenge in Alberta, Canada. The Trojans open their 2010 season on Jan. 7-9 at the Outrigger Hotels Invitational in Honolulu, Hi., facing Penn State, Ohio State and Hawaii, before beginning MPSF play at UCLA on Jan. 13.
