Trojans Advance At Southwest Regionals

MALIBU, CALIF. -- The USC men's tennis team has a strong contingent advancing after day one of the ITA Men's Southwest Regional Championships, hosted this year by Pepperdine. Of USC's six players engaged in singles play, four Trojans have advanced to tomorrow's Round of 32. In doubles play, USC has all three of its pairs lined up for Round of 32 matches in Malibu.
In singles action today, Corey Smith and Jonny Wang both had a full day to play, opening with first-round wins before falling in the Round of 64. Their Trojan teammates had byes in the first round and went on to Round of 64 victories. In tomorrow's Round of 32, USC's Yannick Hanfmann, Emilio Gomez, Eric Johnson and Ray Sarmiento will engage in action to follow up today's Round of 64 wins.
