
Steve Johnson Impresses In ATP Challenger Tour

Reigning NCAA singles champion Steve Johnson of USC has continued his impressive summer tournament run into the USTA Pro Circuit this fall, winning three matches and qualifying for this week's $75K Challenger in Charlottesville, Va.
Johnson first beat UVA freshman Mitchell Frank, ranked the No. 1 newcomer in the country, in the last round of qualifiers. He then went on to defeat reigning back-to-back USTA National Hardcourt champion Jack Sock 7-6 (5), 6-4 on Tuesday in the Round of 32.
Johnson, who has been labeled the next great American, faces No. 2 seeded Michael Russell in the Round of 16 at the Charlottesville Challenger.
