Ivana Filipovic finished fourth and Iskra Angelova finished sixth in the Single Scull Grand Final Sunday May 24 at the World Rowing U23 Championships in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, closing out a strong week of competition for the Women of Troy.
Both Trojans continued their ascent on the World Stage as Filipovic (Serbia) and Angelova (Azerbaijan) improved on their finishes from last year's event where they placed seventh and 14th respectively.
Also in action for USC, senior Maria Wilgotsson (Sweden) finished 11th and sophomore Vineta Moca (Latvia) finished 13th in the double scull.
Filipovic and Wilgotsson earned Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association 2011 Pocock All-American first team honors last season, helping the USC women's rowing team to a fifth place finish at the NCAA Championships, the Trojans' second-best finish in school history behind their third place finish in 2007.
