Senior Lisa McCloskey and freshman Doris Chen remained in the hunt for the individual lead and helped the No. 4 USC women's golf team extend its advantage to four strokes after the second round of the 2012 Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate in New Orleans, La., on Monday (Feb. 27).
The Trojans, up one after Sunday's play, now lead by four strokes at 9-over 585 (293-292) with Duke in second (589), Colorado third (590) and Baylor fourth (591).
McCloskey is in second at 2-under 142 (71-71) while Chen is tied for third at 1-under 143 (71-72). Both are chasing Oregon's Cassy Isagawa, who has raced out to 8-under after two rounds.
McCloskey opened with three birdies among the first five holes and finished with four on the day while Chen had three. Both were 1-under on the front 9 and even on the back in solid rounds.
Sophomore Sophia Popov is tied for 10th at 3-over 147 (74-73). After a rough start that saw her go to 6-over through seven holes, Popov birdied five of her final 10 holes to save the round.
Senior Inah Park is tied for 43rd at 9-over 153 (76-77) while sophomore Rachel Morris is tied for 60th at 14-over 158 (79-79).
The Trojans will try to clinch their first win this season with a shotgun start Tuesday (Feb. 28) beginning at 8 a.m. EST.
