
UCLA Men's Volleyball Sweeps USC

Dane Worley had 12 kills and Robart Page added 10 kills to lead the No. 7 UCLA men's volleyball team to a 25-18, 25-21, 25-17 sweep over No. 9 USC in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match on Monday (Feb. 18) at USC's Galen Center.
The Bruins improved to 10-8 overall and 6-6 in the MPSF, while the Trojans fell to 3-7 overall and in the MPSF.
Tanner Jansen led USC with 14 kills while hitting .357 and Joey Booth had 8 kills (hitting .438).
Worley hit .556 for the Bruins and had 3 blocks and 2 aces.
UCLA hit .522 in the match to USC's .338. The Bruins also had more blocks (6.5 to 4.0) and aces (7 to 0).
UCLA jumped out to a quick 7-2 start in the first set and was never threatened while hitting .391 and serving 3 aces. In the second set, the Bruins forged an early 9-4 lead before USC caught up at 15-15, but UCLA scored 3 consecutive points to go up 21-18 and the Trojans couldn't catch up despite hitting .481 (UCLA hit .478 and served 4 more aces). UCLA opened a 6-3 edge in the third set and steadily pulled away, hitting .714 in the process.
USC next hosts UC Santa Barbara on Thursday (Feb. 21) in a 7 p.m. MPSF match in the Galen Center. It will be the Trojans' fourth match in an 8-day span.
