Another Day Down For Trojans At ITA Southwest Regionals

MALIBU, CALIF. -- USC men's tennis has pushed through two singles players and a doubles team through to the deep rounds of the ITA Southwest Regional Championships with a strong day's work today in Malibu. Max de Vroome and Jonny Wang are on through to the singles Round of 16 tomorrow while Eric Johnson and Jonny Wang on deck for the doubles quarterfinals tomorrow.
Seeded No. 4 in the singles draw, junior Max de Vroome pounded out a 6-4, 6-1 win in his Round of 32 match. Also victorious in his Round of 32 matchup, No. 2 seeded Jonny Wang pulled off a comeback win in three sets to take his place in tomorrow's Round of 16. Eric Johnson and Tanner Smith, meanwhile, came up on the losing end of their Round of 32 matches today to wrap their runs at the regionals.
The victorious USC doubles team of the day was Eric Johnson and Jonny Wang, who edged out San Diego State's Bertsch/Goles-Babic in the Round of 16 to punch a ticked to tomorrow's quarterfinals. Johnson/Wang will square off against top-seeded Foss/Vittek tomorrow at 9 a.m.
