LOS ANGELES -- The Trojans tallied a season-high three goals on Sunday afternoon to dispatch of No. 15 Arizona, 3-1 at McAlister Field.
The Trojans (9-4-1, 4-1 Pac-12) were led by a two-goal outing from senior forward Jamie Fink, along with a score from the Trojans' leading goal scorer Sydney Johnson.
The Trojans once again showed they were a second half team, coming out with a vengeance and a new energy after the halftime break when they were tied 0-0.
Overall the Trojans outshot the Wildcats (8-4-1, 2-3 Pac-12) 20-14, but they broke things open in the second half when they took 14 shots to the Wildcats' seven.
In the 57th minute, Fink netted her first goal on the day, as Morgan Andrews played a through ball to Sydney Sladek on the right flank, who got off a cross on the ground from the corner. Fink connected with the pass in the center of the box to touch it home and put the Trojans up 1-0.
Then in the 80th minute, just seconds after Johnson entered the game as a substitute, she found the back of the net for her team-leading fifth goal of the year. Much like Fink's goal, Johnson took a cross from Kayla Mills from the right side and hammered it home on the one touch to make it 2-0.
The scrappy Wildcats were not going to go down easily, however, as they found the back of the net in the 85th minute, as Erica Stephan connected on the far post header off a Gabi Stoian corner kick to make it 2-1.
Fink was not done scoring for the Trojans, and added her second goal of the day on a beautiful shot from about 22 yards out on the right side, that bent in and found the upper left corner to put the Trojans ahead 3-1.
This was Fink's multi-goal game of the year and the first for any Trojan in the run of play (Andrews previously had two goals on penalty kicks at Pacific).
Goalkeeper Sammy Jo Prudhomme finished the game with six saves.
The Trojans will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 17 as they travel to Oregon for a road contest.
