Trojans Move Through Main Draw At ITA All-American

TULSA, OKLA. — USC's Nick Crystal and Max de Vroome maneuvered their ways through the first round of main draw singles play out at the Saint Francis Health Systems ITA Men's All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. The two Trojans whipped up straight-set wins today at the Michael D. Case Center.
For #61 Max de Vroome, the first-round victory was his fourth consecutive singles win in Tulsa. The junior won three matches in qualifying play, including back-to-back three-set comeback wins to ice his spot in the main draw. Today, de Vroome topped Florida's Alfredo Perez in a smooth 6-2, 6-0 win to advance to the Rond of 32. There, de Vroome will face #22 Andre Goransson of Cal.
On the other side of the draw, #42 Nick Crystal pulled a first-round matchup against Texas Tech's #18 Felipe Soares. The Trojan was up to the task, notching a strong first set victory and then pulling of the breaker in the second to move on in the main draw with his 6-2, 7-6 (3) upset of Soares. Crystal will now set up for a Round of 32 clash against Kentucky's #39 Beck Pennington.
Crystal an de Vroome were also paired up for qualifying doubles play, going 1-1 to come up short of a spot in the main draw.
