Career-best season for USC 4-Time All-American ends this week.
Former USC golfer Lizette Salas, part of USC's 2008 NCAA title team, has had a successful 2017 on the LPGA Tour, closing the final months on a hot streak and hoping it continues for one last event.
Â
Salas has finished in the top 10 eight times this season, with four top five finishes coming in the last six tournaments she has played. With the LPGA season finale this week, Salas looks to complete the year with her newfound momentum.
Â
The four-time Trojan All-American and USC graduate has had a career-best season, earnings-wise. Salas has pocketed $870,060 in 2017, more than double her total of $333,013 in 2016, and topping her career high of $759,323 in 2013. A large portion of that sum has come recently, as she has gained $404,528 since September.
Â
Salas' late season run has propelled her into the 20th spot on both the LPGA's Race to CME Globe Season player rankings and the LPGA official money list this season, while also helping to lower her scoring average to 70.02 shots per round.
Â
Currently 29th in the Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings and with a career earnings total of $3.4 million, the two time Pac-10 Player of the Year has done her alma mater proud since graduating in 2011, and this year has been no exception.
Â
Her 20th spot in the CME rankings earned Salas a spot in the CME Group Tour Championship in Naples, Fla., that begins on Thursday, Nov. 16.
Â
Joining her at the final tour stop in the LPGA season will be fellow Trojan All-Americans Jennifer Song, who enters the event 46th on the money list with $410,936, and Candie Kung, 54th in earnings with $340,921.
Â
The CME Group Tour Championship will be televised on a delayed basis on Golf Channel at 1:30pm Thursday through Saturday (Nov. 16-18) and live on ABC from 10-1 p.m. Sunday PT.
