Branstine and Corcoleotes Fall in Round of 32 at Jack Kramer Invitational

ROLLING HILLS, Calif. -- Sophomore Constance Branstine and freshman Alexa Corcoleotes each fell in the Round of 32 at the Jack Kramer Invitational today (Nov. 3) in Rolling Hills, Calif.
Branstine, the sophomore transfer from UCI defeated Juliane Triebe of Fresno State 6-3, 6-4 in the Round of 64, but fell to the No. 5 seed Helen Altick of crosstown rival UCLA 6-2, 6-0 in the Round of 32. Branstine now holds a 4-6 overall record for the fall season.
In the Round of 64, Corcoleotes took down UC Riverside's Tia Elpusan 6-3, 6-1, but withdrew from the Round of 32 due to illness. Corcoleotes's fall record is now 6-5.
Branstine and Corcoleotes also teamed up to compete in the doubles portion of the tournament. They lost in the Round of 32 to UCLA's Bendetti/Miller 8-2.

Over at the Oracle/ITA Fall National Championships in Indian Wells, Calif., Gabby Smith concluded her singles play today as well. After a grueling three hour match, No. 14 Smith defeated Georgia's No. 10 Elena Christofi in her first round consolation match 6-4, 4-6, 6-2. Unfortunately, Smith then fell to #38 Gabriela Knutson of Syracuse 6-0, 6-2 in the second round of the consolation bracket.

The next action for the Women of Troy will be the team season opener on Jan. 14 at 11 a.m. as USC hosts San Diego at Marks Stadium.
