USC looking to bounce back after season-opening 12th place finish.
The USC men's golf team, ranked No. 8 in the preseason rankings, returns to action for its second event of the fall at the Trinity Forest Invitational at the Trinity Forest G.C. in Dallas, Sunday through Tuesday (Sept. 24-26).
In addition to host SMU and USC, the field includes Auburn, Ball State, Clemson, Florida, Iowa, Kansas State, North Texas, Oregon, Pepperdine, Texas Tech and Texas.
Play at the 7,302-yard, par 71 course will start at 6:30 a.m. PT each day.
USC, which finished 12th in its season-opener last week, is led by its pair of returning starters in junior Justin Suh, who earned All-American honors his first two years in school, and sophomore Cheng Jin. Both are ranked among the top 50 amateurs in the world.
Also returning from last year is sophomore Kyle Suppa, who saw spot action as a freshman reserve, redshirt sophomore Ryan Slater (who sat out last year), and redshirt sophomore Ing Ratanavadi, another reserve.
The Trojans welcome four newcomers, including freshmen Kaito Onishi, Owen Calvin-Smith and Issei Tanaba and junior transfer Sam Kim, who comes to USC after two years at New Mexico.
Suh led USC at the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invite in the season-opener, tying for ninth at even 210 (70-69-71), securing his seventh top 20 finish going back to last season and his fourth top 10 in his past five events.
