No. 2 USC Wins Wild One at No. 19 Washington State

PULLMAN, Wash. – The No. 2 USC women's soccer team scored three goals for the eighth time this year and needed every one in a 3-2 win at No. 19 Washington State on Saturday night.
The victory moves the Trojans to 12-1-1 on the year and 5-1-0 in Pac-12 play, while Washington State falls to 10-3-0 overall and 3-3-0 in conference action.
Leah Pruitt got USC on the board in the first half by converting a penalty kick and the Trojans would take that 1-0 advantage into the break. Tara McKeown gave USC a brief two-goal lead in the 54th minute, but the Cougars would be granted a penalty kick roughly a minute late and convert to make it 2-1.
Penelope Hocking scored what ended up being the game-winner in the 63rd minute on her seventh goal of the year. Molly Myers would again pull Washington State to within one, but the Cougars never found an equalizer as the Trojan defense held firm for the final 18 minutes of the game.

38' – USC: Leah Pruitt (PK) – Savannah DeMelo was taken down in the box and Leah Pruitt finished the penalty kick for her eighth goal of the year.
54' – USC: Tara McKeown (assisted by Jalen Woodward) – Woodward sent a ball ahead for McKeown, who fought her way through traffic and slipped one past the keeper.
55' – WSU: Maddy Haro (PK) – Haro converted the penalty kick after a Cougar attacker was taken down in the box.
63' – USC: Penelope Hocking (assisted by Leah Pruitt) – Pruitt worked her way down towards the endline and sent in a cross that Hocking headed back across the keeper and in.
72' – WSU: Molly Myers (assisted by Maddy Haro) – Haro sent in a free kick and Myers poked home the rebound.
