Scott, Hansson post victories Saturday in final session of meet.
Senior Riley Scott won the 200y IM while junior Louise Hansson captured the 200y back to highlight the USC swimming and diving team's final day at the 2018 SMU Classic in Dallas on Saturday (Oct. 13).
The Trojans finished second overall with 312 points as Louisville captured the title with 358. Virginia was third (299) with Iowa fourth (236.5), Miami fifth (227.5) and SMU sixth (226).
Scott, who won the 100y breast on Friday, doubled up with a win in the 200y IM in 1:59.52, almost a second ahead of second-place. Freshman Isa Odgers finished fourth in the B final (2:03.94).
"Even though it's early in the season, I'm pleased with my and the team's performance," Scott said. "We're excited to get back to work and fix some details to achieve the lofty goals we have for the season."
Hansson complemented her 100y back win yesterday with one in the 200y back today in 1:53.10, an NCAA B cut. Junior Tatum Wade was second in the B final in 1:57.19.
Said Hansson: "SMU is always a fun meet to get up for and swim fast. Overall, the team did well and I'm happy with my own performances. There is definitely room for improvement for myself and the team and I'm excited to see what we can accomplish in the coming months."
Saturday's session opened with the 200y medley relay as USC took second with Hansson, Scott junior Catherine Sanchez and sophomore Marta Ciesla in 1:38.51.
Senior Maddie Wright was third in the 500y free A final (4:50.38) and Scott followed with a third-place finish in the 200y breast (2:10.88). Vose won the B final of the race in 2:12.55, a B cut.
Following Hansson's win, junior Naomi Gowlett took fourth on the 3-meter springboard (281.85).
Ciesla, who won the 50y free Friday, touched second in the 100y free in a season-best NCAA B cut of 48.95 while Vose was second in the B final in 50.22.
Wright came back to take second in the 200y fly (1:53.79), lowering her season-best NCAA B cut by more than two seconds, and Sanchez then captured the B final with a 1:57.64.
USC closed the meet with a second in the 200y free relay with Ciesla, Hansson, Wade and Sanchez finishing in 1:29.34, a season best B cut.
