Cukierman Scores Semifinal Win To Take Spot In Oracle ITA Fall Singles Final

USC sophomore faces the top-ranked player in the nation tomorrow in Surprise, Ariz.
SURPRISE, ARIZ. — USC's #31 Daniel Cukierman fought out of a one-set hole to claim victory in his semifinal bout today and advance to the singles title match at the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships. He'll square off against Wake Forest's top-ranked player in the final, which will be broadcast live on ESPN3 at 12 p.m. PT tomorrow (Nov. 11). Both the women's and men's finals will later air on ESPNU on Tuesday (Nov. 13) starting at 12 p.m. PT.
In order to get to the title match, Cukierman had to get through a familiar foe. UC Santa Barbara's #38 Nicolas Moreno de Alboran had edged out Cukierman when the two faced earlier in the fall, in the quarterfinals of the Oracle ITA Masters. This time, the Gaucho put the pressure on the Trojan once again, getting ahead early and taking the first set. Cukierman kept his cool, however, The USC sophomore would regain control of things and hold his ground to notch a 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 win over Moreno de Alboran to punch that ticket to the final. Cukierman will be looking for his second fall singles crown, having won the Southern California Intercollegiate singles title last month.
Tomorrow at 12 p.m. PT, Cukierman goes up against the top seed in the draw, Wake Forest's #1 Petros Chrysochos, to fight for the Oracle ITA National Fall Championship.
