Brandon Holt Helps Team USA To Gold At Master'U BNP Paribas Collegiate Tournament
December 02, 2018 | Men's Tennis, Features
The USA team tops Great Britain to secure another gold in France.
USC junior Brandon Holt teamed up with fellow American collegians to stage another winning run at the Master'U BNP Paribas Collegiate Tournament in France. The United State has now won gold eight times at the Master'U since the event began in 2008. This 2018 gold goes along with tittles also won in 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016.
In his second trip to the event with Team USA, Holt was undefeated in this year's action. He opened up with a decisive 6-0, 6-1 win over Karsten Wuyts in singles to help the United State to a win over Belgium on Nov. 30. In the semifinals against Ireland, Holt teamed up with Emil Reinberg in singles, and the U.S. pair notched an 8-3 win in doubles to aid in a 6-1 win for Team USA over the Irish on Dec. 1. In the gold-medal match against Great Britain — a rematch of last year's final that saw the Brits get the win over Team USA — the Americans held their ground. Holt would post a 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 comeback win in singles over Isaac Stoute, and Team USA fought on to a 4-1 win to claim gold for the eighth time.
Holt and Pepperdine's Ashley Lahey were the two returners for Team USA on this year's roster, joined by Jada Hart (UCLA), Maria Mateas (Duke), Oliver Crawford (Florida) and Emil Reinberg (Georgia) for this trip to France.
