The Women of Troy will play eight games at McAlister Field this season
LOS ANGELES – The USC women's lacrosse team unveiled its 2019 competition schedule on Thursday, Dec. 27, as announced by seventh-year head coach Lindsey Munday. The Women of Troy will play eight home games at McAlister Field this spring.
"We are extremely excited for the upcoming season," said Munday. "We feel we have a great non-conference schedule; one that will challenge us immediately. We are also approaching the second year of Pac-12 competition with much anticipation and are proud to play under the banner of such a tradition-rich conference. We had a strong fall training season and our team is energized, focused, and ready to compete as the new season approaches."
USC will play 17 regular-season games in 2019 with an eight-and-nine split between home and road contests. A 10-game Pac-12 schedule features a home-and-home with each of the five other league opponents. The Trojans will make two trips to the East Coast this spring: one to face Boston College (Mar. 1) and Boston University (Mar. 3), and another to take on Stony Brook (April 14).
The Women of Troy face six opponents who earned NCAA tournament berths in 2018 including six-time America East champion Stony Brook (April 14); Atlantic Sun champion Jacksonville (Feb. 24) at home; and NCAA runner-up Boston College (Mar. 1). BC won the Atlantic Coast Conference's regular-season crown, but fell in the league's tournament title game. Additionally, USC will host a surging Virginia Tech squad, which finished third in the ACC last spring.
The Trojans open the 2019 slate at home against Hofstra from the Colonial Athletic League on Saturday, Feb. 9. USC All-American midfielder Amanda Johansen now serves as an assistant coach for the Pride, which went 8-9 in 2018. USC's first league contest will be against Arizona State (Mar. 8) in Tempe, Ariz. At the back end of the season, the Trojans will host the Sun Devils on April 20 for Senior Day at McAlister Field.
USC is scheduled to appear on the Pac-12 Networks in four games this spring. The Trojans' home contests against Pac-12 champion Stanford (Mar. 25), Colorado (April 5), and Oregon (April 7), will each be broadcast live on Pac-12 Networks. USC's road game at Stanford on March 31 will also be carried live on television. All non-televised Pac-12 games will be shown on the conference's Pac-12+ streaming platform with links available at USCTrojans.com.
The 2019 Pac-12 Championship will be held at Papé Field in Eugene, Ore., with the Ducks serving as tournament hosts. Quarterfinal games will be played on April 25, with semifinals set for April 26. The championship game will be played on Sunday, April 28. The 2019 NCAA championship will be played at Homewood Field in Baltimore, Md., (May 24-26) with Johns Hopkins and Maryland Sports serving as co-hosts of the national championship.
USC finished the 2018 season with a 10-8 overall record and advanced to the semifinals of the inaugural Pac-12 tournament where it fell to champion Stanford in a narrow 15-14 defeat. The Women of Troy were 6-4 to finish third in the league's regular-season standings. Head coach Lindsey Munday improved to 79-38 (.675) through her sixth completed season. Sophomore midfielder Kerrigan Miller was named the Pac-12's Midfielder of the Year and earned IWLCA All-America third-team notice.
