The Women of Troy got five goals and five draw controls from sophomore Kerrigan Miller in an 11-8 road win over Notre Dame
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The sixth-ranked USC lacrosse team (2-1) went on a 6-0 run through the belly of an 11-8 victory over No. 18 Notre Dame (2-2) at the Loftus Sports Center on Friday, Feb. 23. The Women of Troy earned their 14th all-time win over a ranked opponent behind five goals and five draw controls by sophomore midfielder Kerrigan Miller and a stellar 11-save performance from senior goalie Gussie Johns who also snared six ground balls.

KEY PLAYERS
- Sophomore midfielder Kerrigan Miller matched her career high with five goals and did so on eight shots (6 SOG). Miller also collected a season-high five draw controls to ignite the Trojan offense in the second half.
- Senior goalie Gussie Johns put up 11 saves in goal to match the 10th-best total in USC single-game history. She also secured six ground balls to match the ninth-best single-game total in school history.
- Freshman midfielder Kelsey Huff scored three goals (two from free position) for her second hat trick of the season.
- Senior defender Lydia Sutton had three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
- Notre Dame midfielder Andie Aldave produced nine draw controls and scored one of the Irish's eight goals. Midfielder Molly Cobb had four ground balls and three caused turnovers for the Irish.
- The Trojans drew first blood on a goal by Izzy McMahon, but Notre Dame scored four straight to lead, 4-1, with under 10 minutes to play in the first half.
- USC scored six unanswered goals--including three straight by Miller to open the second half--and seized control.
- Notre Dame trimmed the lead to two (8-6), but the Trojans went on another 3-0 run to lead, 11-6, with under nine minutes to play. The Irish scored two more before time expired.
- Women of Troy received five yellow cards but the USC defense was able to burn off three of them. Senior attacker Maeve McMahon received her second personal yellow card and was held out of the last 19:44 of the game.
- USC stays in the Midwest to face No. 15 Northwestern (3-1) on Sunday, Feb. 25, at Martin Stadium in Evanston, Ill. The Trojans have won the last two meetings with the Wildcats and earned a 14-11 win at Martin Stadium in 2016 (April 15).
GAME NOTES
- USC improved to 2-0 all-time against Notre Dame and is now also 2-0 in the state of Indiana. The win also improves the Trojans to 4-5 against teams in the current makeup of the ACC.
- The win pulls the Women of Troy even at 12-12 all-time in games played in the Eastern Time zone.
- USC improved to 40-6 in its last 46 contests. The Trojans also improved to 14-20 all-time against teams ranked in the IWLCA coaches' poll at the time of meeting.
- The Trojans played just their third all-time game indoors (second this season) and improved to 2-1.
- Sophomore midfielder Kerrigan Miller's five goals matched her career high and is her first hat trick of the season (7th career).
- Freshman midfielder Kelsey Huff scored her team-high second hat trick of the season.
- Senior goalie Gussie Johns' 11 saves (10th) and six ground balls (9th) are among top-ten single-game performances at USC.
