Lydia Sutton is a senior defender for the Women of Troy… one of USC’s co-captains… named to the Inside Lacrosse preseason All-America third team… chosen to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List… helped the Canadian National Team to silver medals at the 2017 FIL World Cup in Guildford, England, and in the 2017 World Games in Wroclaw, Poland.
2017
As a junior, Sutton was named an IWLCA third-team All-American… IWLCA All-West/MidWest Region First Team selection… MPSF All-Conference First Team… ILWomen.com preseason All-America third-team… Tewaaraton Award Watch List… started and appeared in 21 games for the Trojans… ranked third on the team with 35 ground balls and was second with 27 caused turnovers… collected six draw controls and finished the season with five points (1g, 4a).
2016
As a sophomore, Sutton appeared in all 21 games and started 20… named to the MPSF All-Conference second team… chosen for MPSF Defensive Player of the Week honors (March 7) following a weekend in which she racked up career highs of five caused turnovers and five ground balls in USC’s 18-7 win over Vermont (March 5)… scored her only goal of the season against Vermont… finished the season with 37 ground balls (third on the team) and 28 caused turnovers (second on the team)… offensively, finished with five points (1g, 4a)… ranked third for total caused turnovers and fifth for caused turnovers per game (1.33 ctpg) in the MPSF… had seven games with multiple caused turnovers and 12 games with multiple ground balls.
2015
As a freshman, Sutton appeared in all 20 of USC’s games and started the final five… scored three goals and had two assists for five points… was 1-for-2 from free-position and had a .667 shots-on-goal percentage… picked up 21 ground balls and had nine caused turnovers to go with six draw controls… picked up a season-high four ground balls against Duke in USC’s NCAA tournament second-round game.
INTERNATIONAL
Sutton was a member of the 2015 Canadian U19 squad that won the first-ever World Cup gold medals (Edinburgh, Scotland) in the country’s history… three-year member of the U19 squad… as a member of the Canadian Senior National Team, helped Team Canada to silver medals at the 2017 FIL World Cup (Guildford, England) and at the 2017 World Games (Wroclaw, Poland).
HIGH SCHOOL/CLUB
Sutton was a six-year letterwinner at The Blake School in Minneapolis, Minn., under head coaches Laura Mark and Linda Hokr… 2013 member of the Canadian Women’s National Lacrosse Team… named to the Canadian U19 National Team for 2015… silver medalist in the 2013 FIL World Cup of women’s lacrosse… the No. 8-ranked prospect by Inside Lacrosse… chosen to the 2014 Under Armour All-America Team… two-time (2013-14) Minnesota Player of the Year, Metro Player of the Year… named Minnesota Miss Lacrosse and received the Athena Award as her team’s captain in 2014… named to the Under Armour All-America Underclass classic squad as a junior… a four-time All-Minnesota selection, five-time Minnesota All-Tournament team honoree, and a five-time Minnesota State Champion… also played midfielder in soccer (four-time all-state selection and four-time all-tournament team selection) and led her team to the state championship as a sophomore… played club lacrosse for Minnesota Elite.

Lydia Anne Sutton was born on Sept. 22, 1995, in Oakville, Ontario, Canada… parents are Will Sutton and Linda Christianson… has one brother, Calder… names women’s soccer star Mia Hamm as her biggest sports heroine… majoring in psychology.
