The Women of Troy dropped a 15-14 decision to the Cardinal
BOULDER, Colo. – The third-seeded and 20th-ranked USC lacrosse team (10-8) had its three-game winning streak snapped in a heartbreaking 15-14 loss to second-seeded No. 13-ranked Stanford (14-4) on Friday, April 27, at Prentup Field, in the semifinal round of the inaugural Pac-12 Championship.

- Freshman midfielder Kelsey Huff matched her career high with four goals and was 2-for-3 from free position. She also secured two draw controls and picked up a ground ball. It was Huff's sixth-career hat trick.
- Sophomore midfielder Kerrigan Miller scored three goals for her sixth hat trick of the season (12th career) and added an assist, and six draw controls.
- Senior attacker Maeve McMahon grabbed five draw controls and dished out three assists.
- Senior goalie Gussie Johns had six saves and picked up five ground balls.
- For Stanford, Areta Bunness had four goals and three draw controls. Daniella McMahon scored three goals including a pair down the stretch to secure the game for the Cardinal. Allie DaCar had 10 saves in goal and caused two turnovers.
- Stanford drew first blood, but USC went on a 3-0 run to claim the lead. Though the Cardinal came back to knot the score at three all for the first of five ties, the Trojans went on top, 6-4, on Miller's goal at 5:54 left in the first half.
- The Cardinal scored the final three of the first half and the first of the second and used a 4-0 run to take an 8-6 lead.
- USC had a reply and mounted a massive 7-2 run which included three straight and claimed a 13-10 lead with 15:02 to play.
- Stanford remained patient and reeled off a 5-0 run with the final two goals coming from Daniella McMahon to take a 15-13 lead. USC scored one more with 33 seconds left to play and secured the next draw, but the Cardinal defense stood fast to stop the last effort from the Trojans and cemented the 15-14 win.
- USC now awaits the decision of the NCAA selection committee. It has played one of the toughest schedules in the nation but will need to be chosen with an at-large berth. The selection show will stream live on Sunday, May 6, on NCAA.com.
- USC fell to 5-6 all-time against the Cardinal and have lost each of the last three to Stanford. USC also goes to 4-6 all-time in games played in the state of Colorado.
- So. M Kerrigan Miller's sixth hat trick of the season was the 12th of her career and pushes her into sixth all-time at USC.
- Fr. M Kelsey Huff scored her sixth hat trick of the season.
- Kelsey Huff and So. M Kaeli Huff each scored their 30th goals of the season against the Cardinal and gave the Trojans four 30-goal scorers on the year.
